Getting to Know You {3 Questions}

Happy Friday! It’s SO that time again!

Today, I wanted to ask YOU, my readers, 3 ‘get-to-know-you’ questions. I know I always say it, but I REALLY love getting to know each and every one of you. Even if you are brand new today, or have stopped by but never commented, PLEASE!!! today is the day to join the conversation!

I may expound a bit on my answers, but you are under no obligation to do so {that said, of course I would love it if you did!}

What is your favorite {stuff yourself silly} part of the Thanksgiving holiday feast?

My favorite part is my mama’s stuffing.  It’s delish.  It has a hint of peanut butter, onions, and poultry seasoning. It’s decadent and I eat to much of it and it’s fattening and I don’t care because…….it’s delish.

Are YOU a Black Friday shopper??!!

I am.  It has always been a tradition for my sisters, my mom, and me.  We can’t always ALL go, but we try.  The day, for us, is more about time spent together the day after Thanksgiving than about scrambling for sale items {especially now that our kids are getting bigger.} I will say that year by year, Black Friday is losing it’s magic and we are contemplating not even going this year 🙁

What is your favorite {MUST watch at least once every year} holiday movie?

My answer is pretty much a cliche, but It’s a Wonderful Life is my favorite.  I have probably watched it at least 50 times and the end makes me cry every time{yes, really am an incredible, hopeless sap.} It always makes me think about what it really means to be “rich”  and how, if we could see our lives with less temporal  flesh-y eyes, we would realize how amazingly wealthy & blessed we really are.  {now I want to go watch it again :)}

It’s your turn! Copy and paste into the comment form:

  1. Fav part of T-giving feast – the stuffing! My dad used to make it. We try to recreate it now that he’s gone. It isn’t even “stuffed”. It’s baked. We fight over the crispy part!

    Black Friday – no. I don’t go. And that is a wise graphic you have. Perhaps you ladies can just pick another day to go – maybe the Saturday after. The few times I tried – years ago – I never found what was advertised. It’s simply not worth it to me. I hate shopping as it is!

    Holiday movie? I think I love Santa Claus is Coming to Town the best! It answers all “the questions.”!

    • The crispy part!!! YES!!!! I usually get my fill of stuffing just by picking at the crispies as we’re getting the food to the table!

  2. What is your favorite part of the Thanksgiving feast? We rarely have it, but it’s they oyster and cracker casserole. Next to that I guess Turkey would have to be my fave, then homemade cranberry-orange relish. They MUST be eaten together.

    Are you a Black Friday shopper? I avoid it like the Black Plague. I hope to NEVER be forced into it. I send my DD Poppy with a list instead:)

    What is your favorite holiday movie? Mine is It’s a Wonderful Life too. There are other great ones, but that one I have to watch every year. “Look, Daddy. Teacher says, every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings.”

    • I am ALL about the cranberry/orange relish! I’ll let you in on a secret. I mix EVERYTHING together..taters, meat, stuffing, gravy, cranberry…into one big, delicious pile of Thanksgiving food and eat it that way. Classy and sophisticated? No, but it’s how I roll on Thanksgiving :-/ {don’t tell anyone}

  3. No favorite part of Thanksgiving……(Honestly, did you expect any less?)

    Just say no to Black Friday! and now I hear they are doing a Gray Thursday on Thanksgiving Day just to help people NOT celebrate it even more. Bleh to it all I say.

    Definitely a toss up between Clark and Ralphie! 😉

  4. My favorite part “used” to be waiting to see what everyone would bring as their contribution to the feast. We don’t get together for a big celebration anymore because of the miles between everyone. We do go to my father in law’s retirement home meal and it’s great!

    Hubby and I only go to Black Friday when there’s something he really wants and it’s so cheap you can’t pass it up. We go early and get home early. Don’t go crazy hopping from store to store. That’s too nutso for us.

    Movie: It’s A Wonderful Life. It always reminds you what to be thankful for. But I’m a Jimmy Stewart big fan so wouldn’t miss it!

  5. What is your favorite part of the Thanksgiving feast?
    Great Aunt Florine’s Pumpkin Chiffon Pie. Seriously its super delicious and its a good thing I am apparently the favorite in the family as I get my OWN pie 🙂 Seriously she would make each family one, but she would always drop a second one off at my house just for me, I am loved.

    Are you a Black Friday shopper?
    My mom used to take me, I think it was more child labor back then as she can’t stand in lines so she would drop me off and sit in the car and come opening time she would join me. Funny part being who is going to give a woman needing wheelchair assistance crap for that? No one that is who. I don’t do it, not interested in waking up that early. I like sleep, I like it a lot.

    What is your favorite holiday movie?
    Mr. Kreuger’s Christmas. Seriously best heartfelt movie out there. Nora’s Christmas Gift is a close second. My mom was sweet enough to buy me the combo pack of them a few years ago and I plan on watching them with my kids this year, I am pretty sure after 5 mins I’ll be the only one still sitting there as well 2 year olds seem to only care about the animated movies and a 4 month old can’t really watch TV 😉
    I have started playing a Charlie Brown Christmas for my oldest, he seems to be obsessed with Snoppy.

    • Uummmm, I kinda want in on a little of that pumpkin chiffon pie action! Sounds sooooo good!
      I consider myself a bit of a Christmas expert and I have NEVER heard of those movies. must. Google.

      • Christina P says:

        they are church movies of my youth. old old school church films. You would love them and cry a good cry I promise. I mean I have cried at them since I was 13 and I am not a crier.
        I might have the recipe I need to make it, its very different with an almond crumbly crust.
